Ideally located in the Rio-São Paulo “axis”, Brazil’s region with largest wealth concentration, access to Paraty can be made through the Rio-Santos (BR-101) Highway, Paraty-Cunha or if one prefers, to arrive by vessel or plane. Only a 45 minute helicopter ride from both Rio & São Paulo International airports. Pelada Grande Island is only 1800 meters from the coast of Sao Gonçalo beach, 30 km from Paraty when going to Angra dos Reis. Considered one of the best beaches and is known in Paraty by all hotels, inns, and local vessels. With white sands and crystal clear waters, São Gonçalo beach is extensive, offering numerous options of nautical sports (kayaks, boat rentals, bananaboat) as well savory appetizers at the beachfront kiosks.
Although greatly visited, it is always possible to find a quiet place to enjoy the breathtaking views. Surrounded by three islands (Pelada Grande, Pelada Pequena, and Sururu), the sea is calm and safe.
