The History and Philosophy of Ellen Terry

In 1981, Ellen Terry founded one of Dallas most successful boutique residential real estate companies specializing in quality, upscale properties throughout the Dallas Metroplex. The company has closed over $2.7 billion in sales during the firms 21 years in business with over one-fourth of this volume representing homes priced above $1 million. Ellen Terry, Realtors is often referred to as the "Neiman Marcus" of the residential real estate industry because of the firms dedication to the highest level of quality marketing and a total commitment to excellence in both product and service. She has recently been named one of D Magazine's 2004 Power Brokers.

In June 1995, Ellen Terry sold her company to her mentor and friend Ebby Halliday. Ebby Halliday, Realtors is a 55-year old firm with over 1000 agents and is the largest privately owned residential company in Texas. Ebby and Ellen refer to the successful merger of the two companies as the best of the Big and Best of the Boutique, forming an alliance to create the Best of the Best. In 1996, Ellen Terry left management and reentered the residential marketplace as an active listing and sales associate for multimillion-dollar homes. She has closed in excess of $400 million in sales volume representing 120 multimillion-dollar properties ranging from $1 million to $22 million with an average sales price of $2.5 million.

Ellen Terry's personal goal is to make a difference where she works and lives, giving back to the community in every way possible. In 1981 she created the Awareness Hour held at Highland Park High School for parents, teachers and teenagers, brining in local and national speakers on alcohol and drug abuse. In 1991, she founded the Ellen Terry Realtors Ladies Golf Classic benefiting Genesis Womens Shelter for abused women and their children. Over $400,000 in funds have been raised since the inception for the golf classic benefiting the charity.

Ellens favorite quote is "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve, and she not only believes this she lives it!"
