BIOGRAPHY

There are some people who just seem to excel at everything they do. It’s something in their personality, their makeup that enables them to focus on the task at hand in such a way that the goal is not only met, but exceeded. For them, good is not good enough.

For Christy Duffell-Seguin, excellence is just a starting point. She expects the best from herself, and that begins with giving her best to you. It’s a job she’s been training for her entire life.

ONLY THE BEST WILL DO

Growing up on a working farm in Georgia helped shape her work ethic. Her love of sports helped hone this All-Star’s (All-State in basketball, softball, and track) commitment to achieving her goals. A firm belief in academics and being mentally prepared propelled her to graduate high school as Valedictorian and a National Merit Scholar. Add to all of these her strong sense of family and it’s clear why Christy puts her best foot forward with every step.

With a degree in Business Administration and a Masters in Marketing from the University of Georgia, Christy was determined to apply her same energetic, driven style to her career as well. As with everything she does, nothing short of excellence would do.

After graduation, Christy settled in East Tennessee, providing interior design and silk floral arrangements for both homes and businesses. When clients visited her home to pick up arrangements and saw her lovely rose gardens, they began to ask her to create designs for their own landscapes, leading her to establish Creations by Christy, a garden design and landscaping company, specializing in antique roses and English-style perennial gardens. Her beautiful work and eye for elegance quickly earned the attention of many of the most prominent home owners and upscale builders in Knoxville. In fact, many realtors would often call her in to “spruce up” a home with her special touch to increase its marketability.

Her passion for antiques and history led her to restore two 18th century Victorian homes and become a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

So why is she here—in South Carolina?

“Family is everything to me,” says Christy, “I moved here to marry Michael and start our life together.” To affirm their commitment to making Columbia their home, the couple tied the knot on Lake Murray aboard the Southern Patriot, and now call Lake Murray home.

IT ALL COMES TOGETHER

It was with her move to the Midlands that Christy decided to put all of her skills to a new use: uniting people with their homes. “Your home is such an enormous part of who you are. It’s your refuge, your sanctuary, your comfort, and your security. The right pairing is crucial. And I love, just absolutely love, making that connection,” beams Christy. “It’s so apparent to me that everything I’ve done up to this point has been preparing me for exactly what I’m doing now.”

As we said earlier, Christy always expects—make that, demands—the best from herself in everything she does. That begins with giving her best to you.

“I spent years learning, designing, and delivering the finer things to families and homeowners who, like myself, demand the best. The catch, however, is that people who want the best and can afford the best are very, very busy people. I believe one of the key components of my job is to NOT add yet another demand on their time. My goal is to make their lives easier, yet still make that perfect, special match that they can call home.”

As founder and chairman of the Columbia Senior Alliance, Christy has a strong network of contacts to assist families with special needs.

Christy’s relentless drive, boundless energy, and true passion for what she’s doing are evident the moment you meet her. It doesn’t take long for customers to recognize just why she’s been so successful in life: she cares.
