BIOGRAPHY

Billy May, Real Estate Broker and Land Specialist

Bill May, one of the Carolinas’ most prominent land brokers, brings to the table more than 15 years of expertise in the sale of trophy properties and large acreage tracts across Western North Carolina. Having brokered almost $150 million in real estate transactions, Bill specializes in a wide range of unique properties including family compounds, residential developments, conservation properties, 1031 exchange real estate, summer camps, farms, vineyards and recreational tracts. Bill’s clients range from private wealth individuals and funds to eco-developers and land conservancies. They praise him for his uplifting enthusiasm, his dedication to their unique needs, and his uncanny ability to conceptualize the land and engage a vast network of contacts to assist before, during and after the transaction. Bill’s trademark is a passion for exploring Western North Carolina and boundless energy focused on helping his clients manifest their real estate goals.

Michael Posey, Broker-in-Charge; Qualifying Broker

Michael brings 30 years of development and construction expertise to the field of real estate brokerage, where he has teamed up with fellow broker Bill May to concentrate on large-acreage land tracts in the WNC region. Michael’s analytical approach to evaluating the attributes of a given tract of land gives clients the comfort that the development plan which they envision for one of the more significant investments of their life can indeed be realized. Whether the client’s goal is a unique, private family compound or a low-density residential development, the need to understand the impacts and constraints unique to each property is equally important. Michael’s knowledge and expertise cross the entire gamut of the land use and development process: acquisition, zoning, site and master planning, regulatory issues and permitting, architectural design, environmental concerns, infrastructure planning and construction and building construction. His primary goal is to bring a sense of “peace of mind” to his clients, a sense that can only come from the confidence that a thorough understanding of the land and its attributes can bring.Michael is a member of the Realtor’s Land Institute (RLI) and directs his focus on large development tracts, private family compounds and estates, campgrounds, health and wellness retreats, 1031 exchanges and properties with conservation feasibility. The extent of Michael’s knowledge is reflected in his book that was published at the beginning of 2013 entitled, “Everything You Need to Know about Buying Mountain Property”. The book was written with the consumer in mind, particularly those individuals that fall in love with the mountains here but hail from the metropolitan flatlands and coastal markets that leave them ill-prepared to navigate their way through the potential pitfalls inherent in buying mountain property.
