You don’t have to be a fan of Twilight to appreciate the stunning design of the Hoke House. Best known as the Edward and his vampire family’s home in the Twilight movie, in real life, the Portland, Oregon home is owned by Nike’s director of footwear design, John Hoke. Its contemporary design takes slatted wood, concrete, and floor-to-ceiling glass to create a “natural looking home that blends well with the surroundings” (Inthralld).
A project by Skylab Architecture, the construction of the home was complete in 2007, coinciding perfectly with the filming of the movie. It lies amongst the lush green forestry common to Oregon, which gives it a sense of privacy and seclusion. Views of the woods from many of the rooms in the home help set the atmosphere and create a sense of connection with the natural environment. Area rugs atop wooden flooring make rooms feel cozy and modern. “The use of wooden granite top splashback suits to the modern contemporary interior of the house with a green touch” (Home Design Lover). Every aspect of the design is modern and refreshing, with many of the rooms painted in white shades to provide a clean contemporary look.
